The combination of slow and meditative with some fiery burn was just right for today as we grieve the loss of our beloved cat.

I often turn to the comments before doing a video to see if it’s right for me at this moment in time. Sometimes I can get a feel for what the practice is like, but often there is not much description in others words. In the interest of perhaps helping someone else who also would like to know about the practice, I will share my thoughts. This is certainly very calm, but it is a very beginner practice. A good deal of it is just spent sitting still. What little movement there is, really doesn’t stretch, release, or build heat, and the talking is non stop. For an experienced practitioner this can really make it difficult to turn inwards and engage with your practice. I could see how this practice might feel good if one were experiencing great stress and anxiety and really needed to be slowed down and comforted, but it is not one that I would turn to to start my day and feel renewed (as the title suggests). I found that I let it play in the background while I did my own thing. I wish that there were a way to mark videos for myself so I knew not to try this one again, because it really just left me feeling that I had not used my sacred daily “yoga time” well.

The calendar for June 2025 just got uploaded, and I couldn't resist peeking ahead to see which practice had been scheduled for my 60th birthday. 👀 Yoga for Renewal! So Perfect! I'm actually crying! 🥲 See you in a month, future Deirdre, and thank you, FWFG fam! ❤

I wanted so much to love this as the description sounded perfect, but it continues the trend of a lot of talking and little movement. It is clearly for beginners or those with limited mobility. When I am not focusing on my movement and alignment, I am unable to turn inward and find my mind wandering to the day ahead. While I’m not looking for power yoga, I do need a faster paced flowing practice that challenges my balance, flexibility, and stability.

Sometimes you just land on exactly the right practice for where you are in the moment. I'm deep in the trenches of the perimenopausal transition. It's been a long haul, I'm a little depressed, and I've been struggling to see any signs of light, life or hope. But this practice found me and I feel a bit more able to see this as a slow new beginning - the gateway to another chapter. And being able to stand on the threshold and reflect is a privilege. Big shout out to anyone here who finds themselves in a similar spot. Bx

I didn't want to show up to my mat today. 44 minutes seemed way too long. I am grateful i showed up. What a beautiful practice. ❤️
