In this 20-minute biomechanics workshop with Sumair, we’ll learn how improper alignment of the feet and ankles leads to faulty alignment of the knees and hips, causing pain in the back and neck. And it all starts with the big toe! You’ll begin with a self-massage to loosen the muscles of the feet, then move on to several corrective exercises to retrain your muscles to hold a proper alignment. Sumair encourages his clients to go through this sequence 3-4 times a week for better posture, healthier joints, and increased stability.

A chair, a yoga block (or a stack of books 3-4” tall), and, optionally, massage oil are used in this session.

Really looking forward to continue this series up the body! I think for me it would be beneficial to go through the full massage work on both sides and through the full sets of reps with you demonstrating so as to not frequently need to be pausing and rewinding the video with oil on my hands. Overall feel great after this!

I felt very much in need of a session with a chiropractor, but my back ‘popped’ all by itself during this routine. Thank you!

My feet tend to bend outwards instead of inwards, opposite of what you explained in the beginning. Are these movements still right for me?

okay this was good, and I hate to say anything negative, But it was so incredibly annoying having to pause the video to do the remainder every time you stopped. Getting up out of my chair, walking to my computer to pause, going back to my chair, going back to the computer to unpause. Very frustrating having to do that. Would very much appreciate a full length version.

I have used this repeatedly but there was still something 'stuck'. Inspiration came and I used a gua sha stone to massage my feet and separate out the toes. Maybe my small hands weren't enough and bingo I have my yogi toes back on both feet.

This was amazing! I have Morton's Toe and there is no space between the big toe and second toe. With these exercises there is! I immediately felt better and more grounded. I will definitely be adding these exercises to my daily routines. Thank you!!!
