<p>In this video, we continue the theme of practicing without bearing weight in the hands. The most common way instructors transition people into standing poses is by having their students step into them from down dog. Rather than stepping forward from down dog, in this video you’ll transition into the standing poses by stepping back from the top of your mat.</p><p><br></p><p>The emphasis of the practice is strength in the hips and legs experienced through 2 progressive twists.</p><p><br></p><p>We also explore transitioning from sitting to standing without using the hands - which correlates highly with quality of life as we age.</p><p><br></p><p>I hope you enjoy this unique practice!</p><p><br></p><p><a href="https://fwfg.com/programs/look_ma_no_hands_energizing_floor_practice" target="_blank">Be sure to check out the other video in this series, "Look Ma, No Hands: Energizing Floor Practice."</a></p><p><br></p><p>Please leave any questions or share about your experience down below!</p><p><br></p><p>Love,</p><p>Rey</p>

<p>I woke up today with enormous grief about my current state of being- 2,5 years of being very chronically ill. Grief for all that I cannot do, physically and mentally. To my delight a practice from Rey was scheduled for today. I always love his energy so much. And it turned out, in all my disabilities, that I have my own way of standing up without hands, which I was never really aware of! I have something I can do that other people can't!! Thanks Rey, you're a blessing, as always❤️🙏</p>

This was a great practice. Thank you! I appreciated the explanation of the detail work in each pose. Didn’t think I would be able to stand without my hands but with tour help, I did it! 😀 Thank you and Namaste!

Hello Ray, thank you very much for the practice. I really enjoyed the movement. Only one thing that got me a bit was your talk about not using your hands to get up increasing your quality of live. I have a disability and I use my hands to be able to get up to save me energy for other things and I also use my hands in balancing postures to hold against a wall, because of my disturbance of equilibrium. And I would still judge my quality of life quite high, because I allow myself to use whatever I need to be able to get in and out of the postures as good as possible for me.

Thanks Rey, that was amazing! I have been really feeling strong in the standing poses but your advice on alignment of the feet was an eye-opener and i felt solid! Can’t wait to take this with me into my normal daily practice with Adriene 😀😍🙏

Being a guy it was a nice switch-up, especially since my forward dold is nothing like Adriene’s lol

I’m a new FWFG member so it was also my first class without Adriene! Weird but I really enjoyed it! I loved the Shiva moving pose!
