Our Foundations of Yoga series continues with this Standing Forward Fold (Uttanasana) which is great stretch for the back and hamstrings.

Cooling and calming, this pose is great before bed to aid insomnia and great anytime to release tension and toxic thoughts. Also a great pose to ease headaches - believe it or not! Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Love going back to these foundation videos. So grateful for them. 🥰

❤️❤️ Video description: We start in mountain pose with hands on hips. We do a nice slow dive into forward fold with hands still on hips. Then we spend a few minutes just breathing and exploring the forward fold while Adriene talks to us, before doing a slow roll back up to standing. ❤️ Also, just a random side note—I find it interesting going back to watch the old YWA videos, to hear that she queues “tuck your pelvis.” From what I know, this common queue in yoga is based on male physiology and is not actually correct for female bodied folks. I’ve been told to disregard it when a teacher gives this queue, and I always think, “Adriene never queues that 😇” so it’s just funny to hear her do it in the old videos.

What’s the difference between forward fold and bow?
I had a headache this morning and was looking for a quick way to help. It feels much better - thank you!

Thank you for verbalizing sensations, for instance tingling in the legs as you rise and come to a full standing position. It lets me know that is a normal sensation!.
