Bakasana is a Hatha Yoga arm balance that challenges the mind body connection in the most fun way and strengthens the core. Also known as the Crane pose, this posture strengthens the arms, the wrist, the back body, and the abdominal organs.

This asana also teaches us and reminds us of the importance of integration in our postures. We work to create a full body experience to fly in our posture. Keep your gaze forward and rock in and out of it. Stay positive!

Crow is a wonderful posture to return to again and again for inspiration and a reminder to focus on the practice. Breathe deep, take your time, and enjoy the journey! The journey is the reward! Find what feels good.

(Halloween 2013)

I never EVER thought I would be able to do this. My arms and wrists weren't strong enough in the beginning to support even part of my body weight never mind with my feet off the ground! I couldn't get my knees to stay on my arms and it really hurt a lot when my knees dug into my arms and they kept slipping off. I learnt to use a pillow in front of my face for the many times I fell into it! I was determined to do it though and I have been practising just a few minutes every day as part of my daily practice (thanks Adriene 😊) and now, several months later, I can finally say I CAN do this!! To everyone who wants to master this, I say, keep going - you can do it, it just takes time, patience and practice. If I can do this at 54, you can too! πŸ‘πŸ’œ

Light, funny and loving practice! First time doing this session and you made and explained crane/crow pose so much easier/better for me. I followed your advice and used the block the first time around. That decision to follow hour cues made a huge difference as my comprehension of the pose connected (it made perfect sense!) and I (butt up high 😁) really took flight (I used to be content with a shaky hit-or-miss, hold-the-pose-for-dear-life 1-2-3 seconds πŸ˜…πŸ€£)- when I did the pose on the ground - my best crow pose yet! Awesome. Showing up regularly to practice helped too. Your lighthearted attitude convinced me let go, give this a try and just go with the flow. I am grateful I did not skip this practice.
Thanks Adriene! A great treat, in and of itself! Change the approach. Be lighthearted about something that’s scary - as in any poses that does not come naturally and watch how that changes everything! Our attitudes influence our perceptions and how we experience life! I love my practice! Nice cues and approach to crow! May we all find ease in taking flight! πŸ©·πŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ©΅πŸ’™πŸ’œ

Yas I was able to hold it for a bit!!! Woohoo! Took me to the last try, but today I was able to get to where I wanted to be. And it felt a bit lighter this time because I was breathing through. Thank you as always, and love to this community. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

I need to do this more! I made progress today - got a toe off the ground! It was so scary! It hurts when my knees dig into my arms tho. Is that normal?

I have decided to focus on Crow this month and this video is the perfect place to start. I have struggled with Crow for so long, I really want to finally get it. And if anyone from YWA is reading this, the CC is not for this video, a little distracting at times.

This was great! I do have a question-is there an ideal place for the knees to touch the arms? And are the knees supposed to be conpletely behind the arms or peeking out to the sides a little? Hope that made sense :)

Until i joined i had never even heard of crow pose πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ crow was part of 2 practices i did in the last few weeks. Last time i fell flat on my face, thought i broke my nose in the process πŸ˜‚πŸ₯΄ but tonight I managed to stay up for a few seconds πŸ₯³ felt freaking AMAZING! Knees do feel like they are just sliding over my arms, but sure that sill get better with time
