Per your request! I invite my friend Rey to help guide you a safe development of handstand! Remember to take your time, remember to be mindful and don’t forget to have fun. “The journey is the reward!”

xx

Adriene

___________________

In this video, we'll cover a step by step break of how to get up into handstand at the wall.

Getting up at the wall and staying for a bit is a great way to build the strength and neuro-proprioception necessary for handstand. Many people are mystified by handstand (myself included). However, this magical pose should be practiced with great caution as it is potentially dangerous for your shoulders and wrists.

Core stability is key, but maybe not for the reasons that you think! I used to have a daily handstand practice which, after 2 years, I realized wasn't sustainable for me.

This practice at the wall was actually my first handstand in about a month. Handstand is a fun, enchanting pose that, if practiced correctly, can empower you a great deal. I hope you enjoy my tips for getting up the wall and eventually coming off of the wall!

Let me know how it goes for you in the comments!

Rey

I am having lots of fun trying this out … sparingly. I appreciate the intro disclaimer. I’m not there yet but hope to enjoy vertical perspective one day soon! What is the other video you reference at the beginning about correct hand position/ rootedness?

The fear is real! It is validating to hear that the hips are heavy because that is the what stops me from lifting too far, but today I made it partway up the wall with the 2nd method. A slow approach perhaps 😁

I haven't done handstands in a long time. It did wonders for creating a sort of internal balance and mindfulness of surroundings. It was recommended for good exercise and coordination. Have to recover some of that performance. Still exploring sound relating to this too. Thanks for the video.

I found the first bit made a lot of sense thinking in an Iyengar sense. I dont have the core strength to kick up yet but im working on it. My question is I often get sore in my left elbow doing weight bearing poses on arms, its definitely improved, i think it is probably my left shoulder joint needs to be more open and whole left arm just imbalanced with the right. Does that sound like a reasonable guess? I was going to practice the Shoulder Vitamins video to help that. terms.
