Foundations of Yoga continues with Adriene! In this episode, we learn Standing Wide-Legged Forward fold from the ground up with a strong focus on Action and Alignment.

This pose is great for the whole body! Prasarita Padottanasana strengthens the legs and the back and tones the abdominal wall. It stretches the hamstrings, hips and lower back inviting the muscles to open and feel good. In fact, this is a great pose after a jog or run!

It is also calming for the system and can help to relieve anxiety or jitters. This pose can also help to relieve headaches and fatigue. It can be challenging too!

My leg/hip rotated in a way that felt great when I did this posture in today's class in the embody calendar so I wanted to follow up with that but didn't find it again. I think when I turn my feet slightly inwards only my feet are turning inwards and the rest of the leg just stays stationary and I'm not rotating at the hip joint. I can turn out very easily which is why I'm a natural at ballet. But I have no coordination rotating my legs in from the hips down if that makes sense. I'm sort of finding now as I'm typing. I think my low back is tight and I need to expand/relax it laterally. I've done this posture for years and been getting worse so any thoughts would help. Thanks
