Learn the Staff Pose as our Foundations of Yoga series continues! Staff pose, Dandasana, (Or Stick Pose) is a great pose to check in with the alignment of the spine and the center of the body.

There is definitely more that meets the eye in this posture and always room to grow- even though it might not seem like it at first.

Improve your posture, give those hamstrings some love, and help alleviate back pain. This version is great for beginners with the fingers up.

This Foundations of Yoga session on Dandasana is deceptive - it's only 6mn, just sitting down (or so you think!), but the next day my thigh muscles were more sore than after doing fitness, squats or even weight training! 😅

Definitely more than meets the eye 😉

I’m really glad I landed on this one! Learned a lot about a pose that I tend to shy away from or rush through.

When practicing Dandasana I feel tension/soreness in my hip flexors and front of the hips. Anyone have tips on engaging the right muscles to bring it out of my hip creases and into the core or hamstrings more?

Indeed, harder than it looks. My spine wanted to cave in, amd it was quite a struggle to keep it straight.

I just did this video and I agree that it's not a beginners pose. I think by really concentrating on pulling my toes to my heart by the end of the video my toes were sore!
