This might get long.

In regards to the last question about the challenge of honoring roots while integrating it into our modern time and making sure we are being inclusive and not using rules to separate: This may be projecting, but . . . My mom is a minister. (Obligatory statement of acceptance of all religions and practices 🌈). Yesterday she preached a sermon on Jesus healing on the Sabbath and the stink the Pharasees threw. I will spare the details, but the point was that we are to live in the Spirit of the Law, not to the Letter of the Law. The spirit of the Sabbath is a day of rest and was made for man as a gift, man was not made for the Sabbath. The spirit of the Sabbath is rest to support a good and healing energy. Jesus infuriating the Pharasees by healing on the Sabbath angered them because he was breaking the letter of the law. But the act of healing itself was in the spirit of the law. I believe that is part of the challenge you're speaking of here. The rules of yoga were written in support of a good and healthy way of being in the world. Dare I say, guidelines. And it's our job to figure out how that fits into a modern context. The specific way of our lives may violate rules written for another time. But the spirit of the rules can still be lived in new ways.

Love to you ❤️

Hi Adriene, I’m having my breast implants removed after 23 years. I’m 57 and have been following you daily for the past 5 years. What yoga would you suggest I do while I go through my recovery? I will not be able to raise my arms over my head for 3 weeks. I will be patient with my healing, however I know I will want to do my yoga as soon as I can. Thumbs up to 3rd eye, abundant blessings to you always. Namaste ~ Peggy Sky

So genuine and loving, thank you for being you and sharing it with the world! FYI, the knees are hinge joints, the hips are ball and sockets. Sorry, just had to add a physical therapist. I relate with your passion to care and educate, and i just love your little quirks. Thank you!!

What a joy and gift. Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on mountain. And also on grief and challenges getting to the mat; I received empathy that I needed in this moment. Thanks. :)

I loved these Q&A videos, especially because it gave a space for more "raw Adriene" time (I'm struggling to find the right words right now 🤷🏻‍♂️). But I know these types of videos can be uncomfortable to do, so thank you Adriene!!!
