If you were to think about your phases as seasons, the Menstrual phase could be considered your proverbial winter. While everyone is different and we can experience different sensations in different seasons of our life, typically right before you bleed and during your period, the urge to draw inward is strong.

A yin like yoga practice can offer us the time and space to find coziness and move slowly. During this phase, we aim to find moments of restoration and opportunity to relax, best we can, to restore and recalibrate for the next phase of our cycle!

During this session we will cultivate grounding energy and utilize the power of soft intentional movement and breath. Our body is at the beginning of a new cycle here. Let’s honor it with respect and awareness.

Grab a blanket if you have one, throw on something comfy, and come as you are darling.

Love,
Adriene

We have four distinct phases of our cycle I don’t understand how we have three videos - I low any yoga video on this App love every teacher and this is the only time in 8 years I have ever had anything resembling disappointment. I just don’t think the videos actually align properly with what our hormones are doing. Nevertheless I always enjoy every sequence and practice ❤️

I did this today on my period whilst being in pain and it was not for me unfortunately. I need more focus on stretching my belly, lower back and upper legs. These are the areas that I feel pain and need tending to. Wish it had more elements helping these areas. Cat/cow and childs pose was the only relief. I think this video is perfect for people that experience no pain on their period and just need something slower in pace.

What a lovely restorative practice! As someone who hasn’t had a menstrual cycle in years due to my endometriosis, I was a bit apprehensive about how this practice would work for me, but it was absolutely wonderful and so delicious for my body. Thank you so much Adriene and team for always delivering the most amazing practice ❤️

Wow.. I am on my period since yesterday. Today, during my morning meditation my intuition told me: meditating is about taking a step back, remember? It is not such an active thing. And I finally was able to bring some softness and non-doing back into my meditation. I have been having a lot of hasty energy the past month(s) and I felt like today, my mind, spirit and body were finally ready to start bringing in the softness again. Then, I saw what practice was up and this practice showed on the app.. I had a really hard time sitting still during the practive- I still have this rushy energy, and I was actually craving a more active practice. But oh was it a sign and a gentle hand from the universe that said yes, it is time to soften again. It feels great, even though also hard of course! By the end of the practice some built up tension released and I was able to surrender more to softness, letting go. Thank you so much my friend, this practice is a huge help ♥️

The perfect practice for my first cycle after an IVF journey and my first pregnancy. It was such a delicate way to show my body gratitude for all that it went through.

Thank you.

This practise was incredibly soothing and helpful, thank you. ❤️ I didn't realise until you mentioned it at the end, how much I fight the cycle and how unhelpful that is. If you have any tips on learning to love and accept it, I'd love to hear it. Thank you again ❤️

I did this practice yesterday and was thinking about what you said "we need more support during this phase". Being a man obviously we can't experience what women experience during their cycle so can you elaborate on how we can support women through this process?
