Let’s workshop: Yoga as whole body care! This chair yoga and mat practice takes us through a non-judgemental care for your feet. Your feet play an absolutely crucial role in your posture, movement and overall health.

If your feet are weak, misaligned, or tight, it can lead to problems in other areas of your body, including your knees, hips, lower back, even the neck and shoulders. By focusing on foot health, you can maintain balance and alignment throughout your body, prevent or heal common foot issues, enhance circulation, and reduce pain and inflammation.

The FEET in YOGA: From a yogic mindfulness perspective, tending to the feet and getting in the habit of having awareness of your feet can also energetically travel all the way up the energy centers of the body, allowing you to adjust throughout the day to what feels more balanced in more ways than one.

Let’s give your feet the attention and care they need to function optimally. A little really can go a long way. I know from personal experience that a tiny bit of daily care for your feet can lead to long-term benefits for your body’s alignment, flexibility, strength, and overall balance and comfort. If you like yoga asana, working with the feet is also essential for injury prevention, strengthening, flexibility, the ability to relax as well as improve balance and stability.

*This practice can be explored and experienced with a chair or on the mat with a block!

That was lovely! Thank you.. I’m starting to get a bit of pain in my big toe joint (I think a bunion starting), any tips on ways to prevent? Stretching definitely helps but wondered if there’s any other tips and tricks to keep feet healthy? Thank you in advance 😌x

I loved this! I did have a lot of wobbly tree poses but feel more grounded now! Any tips for improving balance (I’m 60 and feel I wobble more these days)

I have arthritis in one big toe joint that has made me have to modify a lot of yoga poses as well as limiting the walking I do, so yes, I have complicated feelings about my feet. Not sure what I was expecting from this practice, but I need a little more. I’ve had interesting times in yoga classes with a tennis ball on the feet, but I know not everybody has those around the house.

I’m curious as to what is the purpose behind sitting on a block/chair versus the floor? I had a hard time with the forward folds because my knees hyper extend, so that angle felt particularly ill advised for me. What should I be looking for so that I can modify? Just hips over knees for more kindness to the spine? Or is there another goal in mind?

What is going on with foot cramping. I am 4 months into a daily practice centered around sun salutation sequences and I still get caught by foot cramps. This is especially true in Cobra of all poses 🤷‍♀️

Am I the only one that when Adrienne says, “spread your toes.” Also spreads my fingers…as if my fingers want to demonstrate what my toes should be doing? I think I do it all the time but really noticed it in this video.🦶🖐

After shoveling it's blowing snow pretty much all the day. I waited till tonight to do this video. But when I first woke up I did the (dedicate- day 25) so my body would be limber and happy. During the standing tree pose, I cheated a little bit, I stood close to the couch with my shin touching. I wanted to feel the opposing forces that the tree had to offer. Didn't want to worry about falling because my body was dead tired of being on my feet all day outside in the 15° weather.

Although I couldn't get my fingers between my toes, the best I could do is just palm them. It was nice to massage the feet other than when you're in the shower.

During this video I couldn't help but think how glad I am to be a member. It really doesn't cost all that much. Not compared to what it cost to eat every day. Taking care of my body is the number one on my list. You can't put a price on that. Thank you Adriene. 🧘🏻‍♂️

Ooh this was lovely, I do try to recognise my feet, any opportunity to give them a wee massage I always do, especially when doing my yoga practise. This was lovely to focus on the hooves completely. I popped my socks on the radiator whilst I did it so nice warm hug for the tootsie’s when I finished. Thank you darling girl namaste 🙏🏽 ❤️ 🧘🏼‍♀️
