We are slowing things down today as we begin the second half of this journey. I will introduce some foundational elements for the next wave of this journey, as well as offer practice of a new technique called breath ratio. Breath ratios are breath patterns set to counts. They are a wonderful tool for expanding your awareness and ability to control your breath.

They are also full of transformative potential and wonderful to pull out of your tool kit when you are feeling mentally, physically, or emotionally stressed or lost.

They can be short, or long, but they do require a bit of focus and yes you guessed it…. discipline.

This whole session is low to the ground with a nice therapeutic breath for the arms, shoulders, and wrists. As it is seated, do sit up on your blanket if you have one. If you need to do some or all this practice in a chair or on the edge of a couch, do it.

This session invites you into the classroom. Let me know how today’s practice goes for you in the comment section down below.

I found my right leg/hip tensing up during this. Had to keep relaxing back down. Didnt matter which way i crossed my legs. I have noticed that i have come to a place in my practice where my shoulders stay down in a relaxed position but my right leg/hip still tenses up and raises. Not my left, just my right. Interesting.

Straight to the favourites list. I would love to see a membership series of 15-20 minute breath practices, with just a few gentle stretches like this one. For example, Breath for When You Need a Boost, Breath to Quiet a Busy Mind etc. Would anyone else be interested in something like that?

I’m a bit behind on this 30 day practice, but I’m thoroughly enjoying connecting to my breath with this YWA community!! Much ❤️

It was a bit difficult at first to turn inward, its been freezing here (-5) and the world was covered in frost. I am a winter person and the sun on the frost creating sparkle just makes me so happy and excited that I needed a moment to sort of calm the excitement and step into the practice. But I did it!

First practice that i actually didn't like... To much breathing, no movement. This is not what I needed today.

I’m so glad to finally know what Benji is spotting out the window! I’m curious why the inhale can feel more difficult than my exhale. Is that common?

ive been feeling peaceful for the first time this year in my life experiencing no negative chit chat in my head but yesterday i suddenly felt a sudden despair and even though ive been more energetic than ever and sleeping deeper than ever due to the “ rest “ series and meditations sometimes i find im more exhausted also , today my anxirty took a different form i felt afraid to leave the room and see my own folks but after doing day 15 and 16! im ready to face the day and do some vegan cooking :)) its been s month or so since ive felt a real low , does anyone else experience sudden drops after a peaceful period for no apparent ( obvious as yet ) reasons think i feel things slipping away due to the way of this pandemic but were all gaining health and time yes ?

The cue to lean into the distractions and utilize them helped me completely switch my perspective. During practice there were dogs barking inside and outside the room I was practicing, as well as another human shoveling outside. Instead of getting frustrated at these things "taking away" from my practice, I welcomed them as a part of it, and even just typing this out makes me tear up. Thank you thank you thank you <3 Namaste
