Developing a Journaling Practice for Whole Living

Wellness journaling is “big picture” journaling. It asks us to consider what we need to live balanced and whole. Consider this idea as you journal and see what comes up. This is going to mean different things to all of us.

Some food for thought: What speaks to your soul? What brings you joy? Is there a part of you that may get missed and not tended to? Is there something that is out of balance?

Be very specific when you consider what you need in order to bring more balance and wholeness to your life. What goal or goals would you like to put in place? Name them and write down the steps it will take you to achieve them.

The goal of wellness is a balanced and whole life. But we are all different; each with our own needs, wants, limitations, talents. So what it looks like for you to live well may look different than what it looks like for someone else to live well.

Wellness journaling is an opportunity to set a personal plan in place and help us live our lives balanced, whole, and personally find what feels good.

If you are comfortable sharing your goals, please do so in the comments below. Let’s inspire each other toward greater wellness.

Thank you for going on this 4 week journey with all of us and for trusting me to be your guide for this journaling series. I hope this series inspired you to explore journaling more and to make it your own.

With love,

Sarah

Having been a journaler (is that a word?!) for years and years I had this past year sort of stopped cold. I guess I felt that the whole process was a bit narcissistic and looking back at my many many journals I felt that I was irritated by the same things over and over again and not really processing it and moving forward. But just pulling the same old things out reviewing them and saying "yup, there that shit is" again. Something in your manner, calm and encouraging has made my writing take a slight shift into a different perspective. Perhaps I feel that I am writing TO someone, a valued counselor rather than just to myself. In any case it has made all the difference. I mean you wouldn't want to go over and over the same old stories without a new twist right? So I am in short - looking for the new twist, the different perspective, re-framing the old stories a bit. It has been interesting and illuminating. Oops this has almost been a journal in itself. Sorry about that. Anyway, thanks.

Oops! Posted mid sentence. But....would grt oberwhelemd when I “fell behind”. About four yeara ago i started to write letters to my kiddo about what was going on in the world, in life, anything. My intention is to give these to him when he goes off to college. Ita a great way for me to reflect on things while also connecting to him. ♥️

Thank you, Sarah. I had stopped journaling (which I’ve been doing since childhood) because it got stale. You helped put new life back into my purpose and need to journal. I would love more! Especially with what’s going on it today’s world.

I can't believe this is over. Four weeks of this "challenge" and the time flew by. I learned a lot from it. The prompts were really helpful. They engaged my mind in ways I didn't expect. I hope there's a part two of the series. Thank you Sarah!
