It is a real joy, honor and privilege to have Alia Khan with us here at Find What Feels Good. Alia is a true one in a million type of energy that is sometimes hard to put your finger on because it is so effervescent and good. Alia brings years of experience to her classes which allows one to really drop in, feel safe, and connect with her on a gloriously human level. I love her friendly approach to yoga and believe we share a lot of the same values around accessibility, inclusivity, and a passionate care for the future of yoga too. A retired lawyer, Alia and I also share a belief that yoga is a powerful tool for those healing from burnout. Can I get an amen?

Alia’s classes are informed and alive with creativity and clarity. I find Alia’s voice inspiring, it makes you want to get clear with your own voice, and kind in your own body. She will guide you to soften, to sweat, and likely to smile as well because her personality is a damn delight to be around.

Love,

Adriene

Alia Khan has a mission to help everyone find comfort on the mat, physically, mentally, and emotionally. When she first tried yoga in 2008, the stress relief hooked her and kept her going back. At the time, Alia was a corporate lawyer and the lifestyle that required was making her miserable. Even if yoga was hard and sometimes uncomfortable, she realized that her mood was better on days she did it and worse on days she didn’t.

Much of Alia’s journey as a yoga student involved finding creative ways to modify the practice to work for her. She’s always had a curvy body and often felt left out of classes when teachers couldn’t offer her guidance on how to adjust the poses to her body, and would instead just tell her to skip it and wait til the next pose. So she started coming up with modifications on her own, and now that she’s a teacher, she loves sharing those methods with her students.

Alia has been teaching since 2012. She opened her first yoga studio in 2015, East Side Yoga in DC. In 2019, she moved back to her hometown of Austin to open Oak + Lotus Studio, where she teaches in-person and online.
