I’ll be honest - I left this practice feeling so discouraged and negative toward myself. I was overwhelmingly anxious going into it because I know I can’t do a headstand or handstand; I’m terrified of the position, falling and hurting myself. And when it came time to do it, I just quit because I was so terrified. I feel awful because I don’t believe in myself.

This is an amazing practice regardless of the headstand. Essentially it’s positions that mimic how you will hold yourself when (if) you are upside down. It’s actually a beautiful, gentle practice with such a lovely savasana at the end. I mistakenly held off on trying this because I didn’t feel ready for headstand, but I would suggest not waiting. The optional headstand is such a small part of the practice and I found that doing all the prepatory stuff made me feel ready to try it. I’ve been trying on my own for a couple of years and always needed to touch my feet to the wall and fully expected the same today, but I got my self in position, lifted my legs, and did it without ever swaying or touching the wall! I feel so confident and strong now. My advice - don’t psych yourself out, don’t make it a goal to “do” headstand, just flow with the practice and see where it takes you💛

Inspiring practice. Perhaps a headstand is possible for me in this lifetime. Moving towards that goal: one baby step at a time. 🙏 👣🙏

Thanks Adriene for a wonderful practise, as always! Wasn't expecting to do the headstand but hopefully one day! I have a question and I am wondering if there is a video to help with this: in dolphin, it really feels like an incredible strain to keep my forearms in the "railroad" position. It feels natural that the elbows want to point out and the hands inward. I did keep my arms in railroad position (parallel and under the shoulders) but it did not feel good at all. Do you have any pointers for this or a video? Thanks!

This is awesome!! How do you know if you have enough strength in your arms to do the headstand? Everytime I try I feel like I am going to crush on the floor
