Everything in my body was screaming at me for getting on the mat today. A refusal and resistance fuelled by exhaustion from a very active and never sleepy 5 month old, an argument with my partner, a stressful week and a desire to hide in the dark and succumb to my bad mood. Nevertheless I pushed myself into that first plank with all my might and it was worth the effort. What followed was a glorious flow, a release of negative energy and emotion which OPENED me up and let in light.

I feel so grateful to you YWA team. You always know exactly what’s needed, when it’s needed. I LOVE this series so much. 🤍

A gift of a regular yoga practice is building on a vocabulary of positions should something not be working for you on a given day. At this point in my chemo cycle I can get a bit light-headed during forward bends, but enjoyed substituting balance, chair and bridge poses, then slotted back in for side planks. Thank you, Adriene!

Tip for anyone like me whose arms are a bit short or has tight shoulders & just can’t comfortably clasp their hands behind their back and elevate them - bring a strap, a scarf, a sock or similar prop for this one! 🥰
