Part three of Functional Movement with Sumair continues the hip and thigh lesson in part two, working on integrating the spinal stabilizer muscles. Learn how to move the spine one vertebrae at a time. You will also focus on the adductors and pelvic floor muscles to practice proper movement of the pelvis to avoid putting extra strain on the spine.

You’ll need a bolster or pillow, a block, and a blanket for this lesson.

I would benefit from a slower pace and additional modifications with this series as well as more audio cuing. For example, in the first pose I was still figuring out the foundation when moving to the side began. I know I could pause the video but I have to break out of the posture I fought hard to find and then try to find it again. In that position, if I am trying to keep pelvis over the knees my toes barely make enough contact with the ground to press into them. Is there a modification for this? When I am curled over the pillow I can’t see the video so audio cues for when to switch sides would be appreciated. Some members seem to be really connecting with and finding more movement with this series and I am so glad! Others like myself are struggling to find our entry point and feeling frustrated. Perhaps this series isn’t for us and that is absolutely ok! If we can look forward to more with Sumair, and I hope so, I humbly request content that would lead up to this current series.

I’m finding this functional movement difficult to “get”. That last exercise felt entirely too easy for me. I think I would need one on one training & lots of repetition.

hello Sumair! it’s impossible for me to press all my toes into the floor here. my lower legs also don’t want to turn out too much. my calves felt fried and were sizzling after the first spine curling exercise over the bolster. would you have any idea what’s restricting me from my toes gaining access to the ground? thank you ! 😄

That sense, that feeling that is as if you are walking on clouds. Barefoot. This series that Wow! effect that just builds upon the previous sessions. I did this last night, and I felt so spacious, weightless (for lack of a better word to describe it!), my spine/torso/trunk from that fierce/scared cat, that spinal rotation was quite a revelation. That first sideways move, I felt my spine came to life(again for lack of a better word!) that was so cool! To feel alive. To feel the innermost recesses of my body (to the bones/connective tissues/every sinew…) I am loving this experience - to reconnect with my physical being and my mind ever so attentive and at one with my body - seemingly paying attention rewiring/remembering/retraining/understanding/rejoicing - it’s such a wonderful gift! From my core/my center/my heart/ the very essence of me, thanks for sharing this Sumair. Your workshops are an experience that is worth exploring. Easing into existing with great supportive team, I am humb

Amazing, totally out of breath on first one and second exercise my left leg wasn’t able to do half what my right side could do! Thank you so much, definitely a series I am looking to repeat when it is on the calendar.

Oh my god. I'm doing it 💪 completing these series. I've started them a long time ago 😅 but now is time to see them through to the end and then repeat. I did deep core with A earlier and now this practice causing me to release so much from my hips. It's amazing.

Started with a stiff and sore lower back, finished feeling about 80% better! Functional movement is such a find for me to pair with practise and support my body. Thankyou Sumair🙏

Hi Sumair bhasin , is it important to do this series kneeling? I noticed there are a lot of kneeling exercises throughout the 7-day series, and since that has been feeling hard on my knees, I've been adjusting to be off my knees for a lot of the exercises. Do you recommend progressing to kneeling, or is it effective to do variations of the exercises that don't put pressure on the knee (for example, standing for the first exercise of this video, doing a standing couch stretch in previous videos)?
